Vytautas joined Alison Brooks Architects in 2018 and has worked on a residential tower scheme in Vancouver, the practice’s highest density project to date: an open city block, with free-flowing public space at its heart, lined by a mix of uses which aim to serve its residents and the wider City of Surrey. He has also been part of the competition design teams for the V&A Fashion Gallery, and a new campus for Hertford College in Oxford. He is currently working on planning proposals for two new landmark mixed-use residential towers at the International Quarter Stratford for Lendlease.
For his First Class Bachelor Degree at the De Montfort University, Leicester in 2018, Vytautas’ final project, nominated for the RIBA Bronze Medal Award, focused on creating the integration strategy and infrastructure for a self-built refugee village in Berlin. Vytautas has a keen interest in sustainability and the use of up-cycled materials. In 2017 he volunteered in Nigeria, as a part of a team to develop a strategy for up-cycling plastic waste in Rural Nigeria and to build a house using soil-filled PET bottles. This project inspired Vytautas to continue the discourse, leading to his dissertation where he researched available methods of up-cycling plastic bottles and other plastic waste as a building material, for homes and schools in economically deprived countries. Prior to his studies and joining ABA, Vytautas was a Freelance Photographer and Artist.
