Join Our Expanding Studio

Alison Brooks Architects is looking for talented and motivated people to join our expanding London studio. With a growing number of UK and international projects, we are seeking both a Bid Coordinator and a Studio & Communications Manager to become part of our collaborative team.

We are interested in individuals with strong design skills, curiosity and ambition, people who enjoy working across all stages of design and delivery, and who want to contribute to a studio culture that is open, inventive and supportive.

Bid Coordinator

The role: The bid co-ordinator will play a central role in supporting the practice’s work-winning activity. Working closely with the directors, associates and wider studio, the role involves coordinating, writing and delivering high-quality bid and competition submissions that clearly communicate ABA’s design ethos, experience and approach.

This is a key position within the practice, suited to a highly organised and articulate individual with a strong interest in architecture, design and the built environment. The role offers exposure to a wide range of public and private sector projects, both in the UK and internationally.

Responsibilities: Key responsibilities include coordinating the full lifecycle of bids, EOIs, RFQs, RFPs and design competitions, from initial opportunity review through to final submission and post-bid analysis. The bid co-ordinator will manage programmes and deadlines, ensure compliance with client requirements, and coordinate information from internal teams and external consultants.

The role also involves writing, editing and proof-reading bid narratives, CVs and project case studies, maintaining bid libraries and standard content, and supporting the preparation of interview and presentation materials. Monitoring tender portals and circulating relevant opportunities within the practice will form part of the role.

Requirements: Applicants should have two to four years’ experience in a bid, marketing, communications or coordination role within architecture, design or a related professional services environment. Excellent written English and strong editorial skills are essential, alongside a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Candidates should be highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines, and confident working collaboratively with senior staff and design teams. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office is required, and authorisation to work in the UK is essential.

A background or education in architecture, design, arts or the humanities is desirable, as is an interest in design competitions and public sector procurement.

Studio & Communications Coordinator

The role: This is a pivotal role at the heart of the practice, combining front-of-house responsibilities, studio administration and PA support, alongside assistance with communications and social media activity.

Working closely with the directors and wider studio, the studio and communications co-ordinator will help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the office while supporting the professional presentation and public-facing presence of the practice.

The role suits a highly organised, personable and proactive individual with a genuine interest in architecture and creative studio environments.

Responsibilities:

  • acting as the first point of contact for clients, collaborators and visitors, providing a warm and professional front-of-house presence
  • managing incoming calls, emails and general enquiries
  • supporting directors with diary coordination, travel arrangements and meeting preparation
  • coordinating studio administration, including document management, expenses and general office support
  • organising CPD sessions, training and internal events
  • day-to-day facilities management tasks
  • ordering office supplies and liaising with external suppliers and building management
  • liaison with an external PR and communications agency
  • assisting with website updates and supporting social media activity, primarily LinkedIn
  • supporting the preparation of presentations, brochures and studio documentation
  • assisting with the organisation of client-facing events and studio socials

Requirements

Applicants should have at least two years’ experience in a similar studio, office management, PA or practice administration role, ideally within architecture, design or a creative environment.

Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication are essential. Candidates should be confident working with senior staff, handling confidential information, and managing multiple responsibilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience with Adobe InDesign, website CMS platforms or social media support is desirable but not essential. Authorisation to work in the UK is required.

What we offer

This is an opportunity to work within a globally recognised architectural practice at the heart of its strategic growth. The role offers insight into major competitions and international collaborations, and the chance to contribute directly to the future direction of a design-led studio.

ABA offers a supportive and intellectually engaged studio culture, with flexible working arrangements and a range of staff wellbeing initiatives. Salary is commensurate with skills and experience.
