Studio Manager

Alison Brooks Architects is looking for a studio manager with at least 5 years experience in an architectural practice to join our team in Kentish Town. Alison Brooks Architects is an award-winning architectural practice with an international reputation for delivering design excellence and innovation in projects ranging from urban regeneration and masterplanning to public buildings for the arts, higher education and housing.

The Studio Manager is responsible for the efficient, effective and safe management of the Practice and ensure the well-being of staff and clients, and the successful smooth running of the office including HR, IT, Facilities and managing the office administration.


Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Human Resources; including recruitment, staff appraisals, managing HR files, inductions, training, benefits and managing staff leave (holidays, TOIL, maternity & paternity leave etc.)
  • IT management; including liaison with external IT support, monitoring backup systems, software licenses, managing printers & printer supplies and maintenance contracts
  • assistance with petty cash & credit card reconciliation
  • monitor and ensure timesheets are complete, monitor staff holidays and maintain HR files in the office project and resource management system (Rapport3)
  • managing and maintaining the Quality Management System including ISO 9001 scheduling audits
  • overview of health & safety including fire marshalling
  • ensure company policies are maintained and updated accordingly including the practice handbook
  • maintain excellent office standards, ensuring a tidy environment at all times
  • oversee ad-hoc projects e.g. office renovations, desk moves
  • maintaining company supplier contracts
  • reception duties; including answering calls, greeting clients, preparing meetings, managing office supplies, equipment and post
  • minute taking for practice management meetings
  • arranging CPDs
  • travel arrangements for teams


Skills & Experience

  • at least 5 years office management experience within an architectural practice
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • InDesign and Photoshop would be an advantage
  • excellent verbal and written communication with a strong attention to detail
  • highly organised, proactive & professional
  • ideally the candidate will be trained in first aid
