BIM Coordinator

Alison Brooks Architects is recruiting a BIM Coordinator with a minimum three years experience to join its studio in Kentish Town, London.

Our architects provide a bespoke service to each client, working collaboratively with world-class expert consultants to provide a fully integrated design service, and as such candidates must possess – at a minimum the experience, skills and technical expertise set out below:

Key tasks and responsibilities

Working with ABA’s core Team, the candidate will:

  • set up ABA’s BIM Standards
  • ensure the team complies with BIM Standard and BIM Execution Plan
  • responsible for the review of the BIM outputs/objectives agreed with the design, commercial and production teams
  • manage licences and software updates
  • set up new project structures, Revit files and workflows
  • amend and create Revit templates and parametric families i.e. doors, windows, balconies and other bespoke façade’s elements
  • review consultants Building Information Models – both visual interrogation and detailed interrogation utilising specialist software
  • organise and lead BIM coordination meetings to review clashes
  • ongoing development of in-house BIM capabilities within our technical department
  • provide support to design management team throughout a project
  • support on BIM specific processes and procedures where required
  • produce BIM training documentation for internal and external use
  • IT management; including liaison with external IT support, monitoring backup systems, software licenses, managing printers & printer supplies and maintenance contracts

Skills and experience

  • relevant design degree in the UK or overseas
  • advanced Revit user with three/five years’ experience of using Revit as part of a larger team of at least three-five people
  • strong understanding and enthusiasm towards the wider implications of BIM for the construction industry, with specific experience of the standards set to meet BIM Level two
  • an interest in the development of BIM in our industry is essential
  • experience of using other related software including: AutoCAD, Navisworks and  Adobe Creative Suite
  • experience of COBie or other Information Exchange formats
  • specification writing – NBS

The candidate will be based at our Highgate studio and must be eligible to work in the UK.
